The angular gyrus is located in the inferior parietal lobule, being the immediate posterior gyrus after the supramarginal gyrus. It surrounds the termination of the superior temporal sulcus
It is involved in a number of processes related to language, mathematics and cognition. It also integrates visual, auditory and tactile information, being a symbolic integration for speech.
Lesions involving the angular gyrus cause alexia.
